ThroughLine is the AI-native system Westcoast Certified works in every day. It writes down how we decide (what to buy, when to wait, what we would never trade away) in a form our agents use while they work, and it keeps every password and key out of their hands. Next, it takes on our procurement and trading.
In a story, the throughline is the one intention every scene serves. ThroughLine carries ours through every agent and every task: across weeks of work, every handoff, and anyone trying to talk an agent into something else.
Running today
We see what our agents are doing as they do it. When something is off, we say so, and that correction becomes part of how every agent works from then on. We don't write our judgment from scratch; we find it by watching our agents work.
What we're building it for
Westcoast Certified began in 2022 buying consumer electronics for wholesalers. By hand, that work only pays at a scale people can't keep up with: ten units isn't worth the effort, a thousand is.
Trading has the same problem with time. Markets don't keep business hours, and an opportunity can be gone in twelve hours.
Both need agents we can trust to place real orders and real trades on our behalf, around the clock, inside limits we set. That is the job ThroughLine is being built to do.
Four things happen around every agent, at every step.
Every correction we make is kept as a boundary, and every outcome we ask for is kept in our exact words. Together they are how Westcoast Certified decides, and every new agent starts with them.
A fast decision model answers typed questions about each step: does one of our corrections apply here, which agent should take this, is this result actually done. The right piece of our judgment reaches the agent before it acts, so nothing depends on an agent remembering to look. We use Jev for these questions because it is fast and inexpensive enough to ask them all day.
Every message, tool call and result is recorded as it happens. When work changes hands or a session fills up, the next agent reads the record and carries on where the last one stopped.
Agents never see a password, key or token. A separate access service holds every login and makes the call for them, so no agent can be talked into handing one over, and an agent can be trusted with a real account.
AI is easy to buy. Making it pay is the hard part.
What makes a business profitable is judgment: what to buy and at what price, when to wait, which risks to take and which never to take. In most companies that judgment lives in people's heads. A new hire picks it up over months, by being there: watching a hard call get made, learning what the company will trade away and what it never will.
An agent doesn't get those months. It needs that judgment on day one, and without it, it guesses. Spending more on agents that guess buys more guessing, not more profit.
